Correction CollarObjective
A CORR objective is an objective equipped with a correction collar. SIMTRUM’s CORR objectives adjust internal lens groups through the collar to correct optical aberrations—especially spherical aberration—thereby improving image quality.Among them, our CXKT040 model also provides apochromatic correction.

Our CORR objectives are particularly suitable for the following applications:

  • Long-term imaging of temperature-sensitive samples such as live cells
  • Imaging environments where the refractive index of the medium varies
  • Situations involving variations in coverglass thickness

The core feature of a CORR objective is its correction collar. By rotating the collar, the spacing between the internal lens elements can be finely adjusted. This adjustment alters the optical path to compensate for optical path differences caused by variations in medium conditions, temperature, and other factors. As a result, spherical aberration is effectively eliminated, ensuring that the objective consistently operates at its optimal performance and delivers high-resolution, high-brightness, and sharp images.

Q: How should I choose the appropriate numerical aperture (NA)?

A: Numerical aperture primarily influences resolution, light-collection efficiency, and working distance. A higher NA provides higher resolution and stronger light-gathering capability (resulting in brighter images), but also comes with a shorter working distance, shallower depth of field, and higher cost.
